W2 Wednesday Wine Tasting...

This week's wine is a really nice white wine, we had at Christmas. Tempus Two, Wilde Chardonnay 2007. Very light, goes with everything. It could be a fancy house wine that everyone will like. My auntie brought it and it's one of her favorites, it is between $10 & $15.00.

Wild Deuce gelding out of Velvet Hickory

This is another nice horse Wild Deuce owns, we bought him with his half sisters below. Very good looking gelding, Brenda hopes to do some great training on him. We really hope these horses will want to stay on with Wild Deuce but if they don't like our life will be offered for sale at our sale. Watch for updates on these three gorgeous horse we bought from Debbie Bailey. There sire is a cutting champion & we are excited to show the world our skills on advanced horses this is why we bought them. Hope your all ready for New Year's Eve & we will be announcing the winner of December's clinic draw! Yee Yaw....

Meet some more Keeper mares of Wild Deuce

Meet some daughters of Velvet Hickory out of Doc's Hickory out of Doc Bar. On the top side of the bay is Miss Lightnin Mac out of Kilomax out of Kilobar. The sorrel is a coming 4 yr old, ready to go to the mountains this spring. The bay Velvet Vixen was out all last summer but was only packed as we focused on the sale horses. I am training the Bay and my plans are to get her into cattle work in the winter. She is big, gorgeous and I am very excited. We also bought a 5 year old gelding from the same father and Brenda is training him. We still don't know who is training the coming 4 year old. Wanted you to meet them...

Meet the colts we raised who are now coming 4!

This is Ted, Deb (the bays who will be packed this year and taught to drive) and the paint is Concho. We bought the mares with these babies in their tummy. Now almost four years later they are coming in for training. We have just now halter broke these horses. We didn't touch them as we wanted to see our skill on untouched horses. Please watch for updates on these three. They are a draft/wild horse cross we will not be offering them for sale as we beleive they will be perfect mountain horses. I can't wait...I am training the bays and Brenda is training the paint. Anyone who was at the Working Mountain Horse weekend and watched the the Wild Steer Packing will remember these horses running in the pen beside....

Randy's Hunting Shack!

We headed to our good friend Randy's hunting shack nestled by Hoadley AB for a great visit! He had the wood burning stove fired up, I love that smell. His Shack as he calls it, is very nice and the walls have some great mounts on them. The best is his elk bugling, forgot to take a picture...ack! Randy does the best elk call I have ever heard. Have a great day, its almost New Year's and our thank you dinner this weekend. Remember, clients/friends past, present or future are welcome. Thank you to everyone who is emailing & coming on out (e.g. Bill & Betty...smile) For any of you rodeo buffs, the buckle is Roy Groves a world champion Wild Horse Racer.

Good moring! Yesterday was coffee day but Chuck found this excellent cup of coffee at 4:00 in the afternoon and I want to blog the coffee in the morning so I waited. He had three to choose from, a medium roast and two dark roasts. This week in Chuck's cup we found a Columbian coffee Hulia Pitalito, it had a ton of flavor he highly recommends this coffee (so do I it was very yummy.)

W2 Wednesday Wine Tasting...

It's ALMOST CHRISTMAS DAY! yee haw... I ate lots and enjoyed some good wine with my family tonight, I hope you all did the same. We have four mintues to go till the big day. My sister is adding her favorite wine tonight (Connie holding the glass of wine, my older sister.) It is a white wine Dienhardt Riesling from Germany. Its a sweeter wine and price ranges between $12-$15 per bottle. I haven't tried it, but she is bringing me a bottle on boxing day, so will let you know my thoughts. I added pics of all the sweets my other sis Tracy cooked up, my neice in her pretty dress. The pic of me and the PERFECT Ya Ya shirt is in Vegas....and I never bought the shirt. ugh. Next time, I will buy one for me and one for each of the Ya Ya's. Okay...its now CHRISTMAS....MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. Talk to you tommorow, sleep tight and check your stockings in the morning.

Christmas Eve...what is that up there? Santa of course..

I hope your all warm, all ready for Christmas and excited about Santa taking flight tonight. He is going to be cold eh! Have you noticed how much I am commenting on the cold yet?? Last night we hauled a horse home & going to get her in the field, well I froze. It's so fun to be home to first see all my critters, the dogs just about knocked me over. The horses all came a running, I felt loved by my animal family. Now with Christmas here, I will see all my family & friends. I hope your doing the same. I have a dinner tonight & I am on my way to buy some wine (getting a new wine for the tasting today..smile) & wrapping paper.

We are back in Canada...its COLD!

Well gang, after 35 days of being on tour we have crossed the border and back on home ground. The weather is brisk & I was going to add a picture of the snow but nope! I added this picture I took along the beach by San Diego only a few short days ago...smile. I miss my critters and BRENDA! 35 days away from your best friend is way toooo long, for the record. So Bren, I am coming over to the arena with some Christmas cheer..smile! Our holiday was awesome & we seen so much! But, it's time to get home & start working horses, answering emails, booking folks for next summer and back into my coveralls! I hope you all are geared up for the holidays & keep warm. We are headed for Rocky to get the truck & trailor, than to Kingman for Christmas. I have to get my butt in gear and find a tree & hang the stockings. I have been warned by a 8 year old. smile.

Monday is now going to be known for Cowboy Chucks Coffee Quest!

Chuck is on the quest to find the best coffee! Each Monday he will highlight a coffee he has drank. As Chuck is the official cowboy coffee maker at camp and only one cup is all you need....smile. He likes his coffee strong to hold up the spoon and have a great taste. No filters are usually needed.

Chucks coffee this Monday is found at the Flying J, their house brand. He found it strong with great flavor. Who knew, but it is a truck stop so coffee is important.

My Mexican Jumping Beans!

Okay...I am fascinated by these things. I bought them in Old Town San Diego not knowing anything about them. Than they started jumping in their case and was in shock! I read up on these little things. A moth lays her eggs on these beans & the worm burros into the bean until its ready to come out to be a moth. Usually in June, so why do they jump? As they are use to being in the desert. If the bean get's too hot the larva make the bean jump into shade so they don't cook. They are very cool...they are jumping right now.

Heading through Montana..delay on the blog no cell service.

Cabela's Lehi, Utah...yee haw!

This was my first time in a Cabela's, it was half museum and half store. It was huge and we spent the whole afternoon..they had to drag me out. The crowd was huge as well, they have so many animals in there including two stuff horses. These horses were life long friends who were used for hunting and packing. They both died at the age of 25 within a couple of weeks of each. We are now in Salt Lake City and will stop for the night. I bought a few new coats as I traded in my shorts for woolies and for the record now real happy about it. smile...night! P.S. they also had an aquarium full of all sorts of good eating!

Heading home-some pics of Utah!

Sunset in the red rock of Utah...it was cold -10!

Driving through Arizona we meet Darrel!

We stopped for lunch in the desert and Darrel came walking out of the desert. It was like a movie...he was selling necklaces his sister had made. We had a good chat with him, he was Navajo and Hopi. Hopi Indians are from the Grand Canyon, I am currently reading all about the Grand Canyon. When we come back down here, we have to ride or hike the Grand Canyon! When we were ready to leave I asked Darrel if he wanted to come on back to Alberta. He smiled and walked back into the desert. I am currently wearing a new necklace. smile
