Little by little...!

The last of the tents were erected for the Backcountry Tradeshow. Thank God for beautiful sunny weather and NO WIND!!! lol! Been there done that!

Reg filled up the water obstacle.

The wall tents are set up on the course.

Shanice was out all day to help. Here she is supervising!

Terri and I were called out of the office to help put up the tents. I think they just missed our smiling faces!

Taylor takes a break at the end of a long day.... She knows how to do it right, eh ladies?!
Here's the truck that's at the end of the driveway, just so everyone knows what to look for.

Have you heard?!?!?!?

So.....most of you have probably already know this already... but we have something VERY COOL happening this weekend!

Every year at the Competition & Sale we raise money for STARS. With all your help, over the past 3 years we have raised over $18,000! STARS is such a unique and homegrown organization, not to mention life-saving!,  we are so proud to be supporting them.

This year STARS is sending out a
BIG THANKYOU
to all of us (yes, that means you too!)
by having a
STARS HELICOPTER LANDING ONSITE!
How cool is that?!?!?!?!

Saturday between 8:30 and 9:30am the helicopter will be here.

Just seeing the helicopter land is going to be something! But the pilots also organize to be able to give people a tour as well!

If you would like to help us raise some money for STARS, we'll have a few options for you this weekend......

......You can make a cash donation. See Tracy or Frank in the Silent Auction tent. (tax receipts are available)
......Donate something to the Silent Auction for STARS. Tracy accepts items right up until opening Friday morning. (For a tax receipt, bring an invoice with the value of your item.)
.....Check out the Silent Auction and buy something!

.... For $15 you can have your picture taken with Mantracker himself and have the picture personally autographed. We have the technology! Proceeds of this will go to STARS. Mantracker will be at his booth from 10am-12pm and 1:30-3:30pm on Saturday for signings.
......Jim Otto is also graciously donating another firearm for auction before the Sale Horses on Sunday. So gun enthusiasts be ready!

SO, EVERYONE COME ON OUT!

We want to thank you for helping us every year!

Very cool all way round!

Well folks everything is coming together.  Brenda and Guy are on there way to Kingman, the paperwork is done, order of go is done for the consigned horses, and I have been working hard since we got out of the mountains getting the grounds ready!  Busy busy around her but so worth it once Friday hits.  The gates open Thrusday at 6 for the general public so grab your camper and your boots and come on out!  To view more up to date stuff that is going on, visit the Wild Deuce facebook page.

Another tidbit, Wild Deuce's 2012 CALENDAR is out and ready for booking.  Not even on the website yet, that is how new it is.  If your wanting a copy before sale day email outfitting@wilddeuce.com

Stuff for kids....!

Morning Ladies and Gents! Sorry about missing a few days, it's been kind of hectic around here!

I want to make sure you know about a new feature of the Competition weekend that we started last year.....

....It's called KIDS KORNER, a special demo area just for kids. It's all HANDS-ON and INTERACTIVE.

(This is Shawnee Williams competing on her horse in the Youth Competition. Not part of the Kids Korner, but there is a Youth Competition on Friday. And it's a nice picture anyways!  Hi Shawnee!)

HITCHMASTERS is providing a unique opportunity to spend some time with them and their heavy horses. Kids can go behind the scenes with Neil and his team to learn first-hand what it's like to work with such big animals.

People had so much fun with it last year, Hitchmasters is once again letting people sign up to go for a ride with Neil and horse and cart. Pretty neat experience!

Ken McKinney will be back to "show kids the ropes!" Ken is a fantastic roper and teacher. Come learn the tricks of the trade!

Dogspaw of Edmonton is back with their own brand of fun! Most of their dogs aren't this big, but I guess they're still cute anyways. Drop by on Saturday for Dog Agility. Let them show you how it's done!

And how the heck do you tie those packs on anyways?!?!? There's so much to learn in the world of knots. We have Bob Silverthorne returning to help you out.

Check out "KIDS KORNER" on the website under "Competition & Sale." For a listing of times, download the "Schedule of Events."

p.s.  Yes, it's all free!

p.p.s.     5 DAYS.....!

More people in the Tradeshow...

I have a couple more people in the TRADESHOW to let you know about!

The Hitching Pohl is located just north of Ponoka. They do a little bit of everything and are good people to have in your contacts. They custom make harness and tack, wash and repair horse blankets and almost anything else that you've managed to break! Check them out on their website at www.thehitchingpohl.com or find them on facebook.

Also joining us is Laurel's Tack Sales. It is a mobile tack store catering to many different aspects of the horse industry. Laurel sells new, used and consignment goods. She is located in Vimy, AB, and if you're like me, I confess I pulled it up on google maps to see where it is! Vimy is in the Westlock Country northwest of Edmonton. You can see Laurel's Tack Sales on facebook.

10 Days and Counting!!!

Demos!

We have a nice line-up of Demos for you this year.

Guy Murdock is back with his informative insights into hoof care and movement. He is a wealth of knowledge and a great teacher too! 2011's topic will cover Laminitis (founder), something we've all dealt with. Guy will show you the anatomy of the foot with founder and lead discussion through Q&A.

New into the ring is Rebekah Rasmussen of HORSE HEALTH.  Using gait analysis and physical evaluation, Rebekah treats horses through massage, stretching and chiropractics. We are very excited to have Rebekah with us!

We are always thrilled to have HITCHMASTERS with us and they will be joining us again for 2011. The shear power, beauty and control that Neil and his team exhibit with their horses is an inspiration to many and brings tears to my ears every year. If you haven't seen the Hitchmaster Team perform, it is a must!

Neil will also be in the demo ring with a Q&A period about heavy horses, driving, harness fitting and anything else you can think to ask him. Did you know that Neil holds several records with his heavy horse teams....?  You should ask him about that!  hint, hint...  :)

Bob Silverthorne is back with his PACKING DEMO. He is a man that has pretty much been there, done that, and seen everything in between. He can show you things that you never even thought to ask about!

He has been on some cool trips this summer too. Maybe he'll share some stories!

Check out the participants in the Tradeshow!

The Backcountry Tradeshow has some old and some new participants this year. I think you'll like what you see...!

Yes, this is supposed to be a picture of the Tradeshow, well the tent anyways. Apparently we didn't get many pics of it last year...

SUMMIT OUTFITTERS SUPPLIES and FOSTERS COVERED WAGONS  are both long time supporters of the Working Mountain Horse Competition, being sponsors as well as in the Tradeshow.

Lorne Ertman of Summit Outfitter Supplies will be there to satisfy your backcountry rigging needs, from boxes to pack saddles and more.

Foster Covered Wagons are onsite the entire weekend with their fantastic line of trailers to suit everyone. They are once again offering a SPECIAL SHOW DISCOUNT of 10% off the sale of a trailer to those who make contact with them during the weekend to buy a trailer. Thanks Fosters!

New to our show this year.... we are very pleased to have WESTERN SPECIALTIES and B&T WESTERN WEAR joining us.

Maureen McHugh is coming from DeWinton, AB to share her shop of custom-made gear including saddles, bits and spurs. Perfect for presents or to self-indulge a little of the good life, we'll all be able to class up our outfits with some of her merchandise!

I don't have any pictures for you at the moment, but don't be overlooking B&T Western Wear. Terri and Bonnie hale from Daysland with their store of unique Western gifts, clothing and specialties. You'll find something for everyone in their store!

And last but not least... we'll have MANTRACKER in the house! He will have a spot in our Tradeshow to sell merchandise, proceeds of which will go to STARS. AS WELL.... Don't miss your chance to buy and autographed picture from Mantracker, OR have a photo taken with him, printed out and signed with something personal live, by the man himself. What a fun opportunity!

Take some time to go to our website. Click on the link of each company on the Tradeshow to find out more about what they have to offer.

15 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Come Check out the Horses!

Josh phoned looking for a  horse that he can trail ride with and do arena work. SO... he came out the other day to try out some horses before the sale. He rode Axel most of the day and had a fantastic ride. He goes through anything!
Just a reminder to everyone wondering about the horses. Don't hesitate to phone us or any of the consignors to find out more, or to arrange to meet the horses before the sale. We want great matches!
Wild Deuce

Clay Braithwaite

Richard & Brenda Miller

Dawn, Pamela and Cynda Didier (otherwise known as the Didier Girls!)

Johnie & Jessie Gillis of Gillis Quarter Horses

Craig & Camille Reesor of 2C Ranch

It helps in your search for "the perfect" horse for you, to get to know the consignors. Each one comes from a different background and that's what we like. But each one also puts the same great foundation on their horses. Ask lots of questions and they'll be glad to help!
