2010 Olympics!

Last week the Olympic Torch passed through my town of High River, Alberta. I grabbed my neighbors and good friends, Brant and Shannon - and we headed out to take in the festivities. I honestly only wanted to see one of my favorite country artists and High River-ite George Canyon playing!

But they had a variety of great performers to entertain the parking lot full of adults and kids alike. The torch was carried in by a long time High River resident and notable community volunteer, Bill Holmes.

A highlight was the torch being delivered on a 1908 Watrous horse drawn fire wagon. High River was one of the first communities in Alberta to get a 'fire wagon' after fire ravaged through their downtown.

After the celebration we headed out for lunch and then spent the afternoon with my horses Ty and Belle (and the other horses, cats, rabbits and dog)!

...and Ty has become best friends with all of them! It's hilarious - he wants to play with the cats, but they're a little intimidated...and it's not uncommon to see him eating his dinner surrounded by rabbits that are sharing his meal!

Belle is getting bigger and bigger as she enters her 7th month of pregnancy.

Cowboy Chucks Coffee...

Been awhile for Chuck's coffee because of the computer crash but also he is working so much he is rarely here for coffee these days. Including this morning...he left by 5am. But I do know his coffee will be a double double Tim Horton's and I don't need to explain how good it is....mmmm. Craving one myself right now! Have a great snowy Monday everyone...

The pics are of Chuck's hunting trip last October down south!

He is currently 14'3hh and growing he has really filled out this year. He will be going to camp this summer because he will be a stud he needs to have all his manners in check & I love him...smile.

Riding the fav Blaze with the snow a falling...loving it. Next to me is the stud, the maybe new horse...Billy & Nix in the end! Glad my cold is almost gone and I am back riding & so far the computer is WORKING!!

We headed to Caresland dogs and all for Chuck's side's Christmas!
Grant & Debbie at the dyke..

Grant & Deb (Chuck's older brother) get new jackets for Christmas as they are on the family farm.

Debbie might shoot me for this one but they go out for a friendly game of street hockey. Debbie get's the puck to the face and receives a very black eye! Grant reports "well I guess period 1 is over!"

The sky with the mountains in the back drop had me outside each evening taking pics...

The Hitman!

I'm very excited to announce the arrival of the newest member of the Wild Deuce team! WH Hitman Warrior, aka Hitman. Hitman is an 11 year old, registered paint gelding. He's got the looks, and he's got the brain! He loves people, has some zip to him, yet is quiet and even tempered to be around.

Hitman arrived on my doorstep because his owner no longer has time to ride him. He hasn't been ridden in the past year and we were able to saddle him up and head on out. That speaks volumns for his personality.

We went out today to shut gates in some pastures. Hitman has a great walk on him and really moves out. He didn't mind the dogs running around him and he didn't spook or shy at anything on the ranch, all new surroundings for him. Pretty good for his first ride in a year!

Here's Hitman standing in the barn at the end of the day. The other horses like to stand with their heads out the door at the other end so they can see their penmates. Hitman actually turned around and stood this way on his own and explored the barn. He didn't neigh or freak out and was calm enough to lower his head and let me cut his bridle path.
I'm very excited to have Hitman join the family and you can look for him to be a camp favourite this summer!
