Heidi is a great hand and she will be having a couple of her own horses in the select sale. All of you booked will meet Heidi our wrangler and Rachel our awesome cook (she use to work on yachts around the world cooking) okay she has food I have never tasted but darn is it good!

Snow....go away!

So here we are, trapped inside with blowing snow. The horses are eating the dogs are in with me and I am trying to type with one arm. I will be blogging from here on out, so add us to favorites and join us for a day in the life of Wild Deuce. I bought a laptop to stay in touch with the world. And so you can stay in touch with us. Please add comments to any blogs along the way. I hope the laptop works on top of one of the mountains. We have moved our website to Northernhorse and we are super excited to work with their team. We are busy making updates and posting new pics. We are not completely full and if your interested in a clinic or pack trip give us a shout! We were suppose to move to camp this coming weekend, but we will now be going to the Mane Event on Saturday! See you there...talk to you tommorow. I added this picture to remind us of summer.

Wild Deuce competes in Working Cowboy Competition!

I haven't developed the pics yet, but will post them when I get them! So here we are, everyone is ready to roll. Terri has her arm in a sling but I am not going to miss out in this. We decide I can't compete in the pasture treating and Clay steps in for me. Thank you Clay. I do decide to compete in the working stock dog competition though. The guys did good in the sorting, than they had to compete in the working cowboy pasture treat. The 2nd steer was a bit tricky but they won forth. I was first into the pen riding Jessie with my half shaved dog Rex. Rex was in surgery a month ago and they shaved him. So with my arm in a sling, and my dog all shaved along with being the only women. Well, let's just say I stood out! The steers were real buggers, we ended up winning 1st. Thanks to my horse and my dog. Chuck won 2nd and we left Vermillion tired, and smiling.

Terri dislocates her arm in the practice pen!

We headed up to Bonnyville to practice with Ken Mckinney and Clay for our competition on the weekend. On the way up we stop off at Coles Western Wear in Vegreville, he sponosors 1st for our competition! Thank you Daryl and Pam. From there we headed to Lafond to Lebreque Tack Shack, I bought gear and he gave us great items for the charity auction. We rolled into Ken's and unloaded the horses and the dogs. We sold Jake to Ken as he is a cowboy horse not a Wild Deuce horse. Ken and Clay will be in charge of a grazing reserve this summer and the horses they have in the sale will have alot of miles. I also got to meet the horses and take a look at http://www.northernhorse.com/ for them from Ken and Clay. The next day we hauled the horses to the feed yard and worked cattle all day. I rode my awesome mare Jessie and Chuck rode his gelding Ben (who is in the sale). We roped, Ken taught us some new tricks, neighbors came out to meet us and all was good till. I was working my dog and Jessie fell on ice, down we went and out popped my shouder. I dislocated it and was knocked out to have it put in...thank God. Jessie was so kind to me as after it happened I couldn't move and when she got up she stepped around me. She than never moved and lowered her head. You can't put a price on that...Here is picture of my sling...ack!

Aggie Days in Calgary!

April 11-13 we head to Calgary to Aggie days. We run into friends who started out as clients. We had fun at the show and enjoyed some great East Indian food with our friends. My cousin Lee and Mila let us stay at thier house and the weather was hot. We were inside...

Wild Deuce in Fort Vermillion teaching a Clinic!

We headed up to Fort Vermillion on March 27, we stayed in Peace River the first night. We hit every museum on the way including High Level. The drive was quite long but we enjoyed the quiet and all the horse talk along the way. Taylor made us climb a HUGE hill along the Peace River! Okay my time off showed with my breathing within the first few steps. smile. We had so much fun teaching our clinic. We were so welcomed and the people made us feel right at home. We worked with everything from a 2 year old unbroke stud to Gale's 20 year pony. Everyone was so keen to learn and we were eager to teach. Long days, great dinners and awesome horses. Again the people are incrediable. They treated us to a dinner at Robyn Curries son restaurant, here is a picture of some of the folks in the clinic! Brenda gets a sleigh ride behinf Mic a horse she trained last summer. Terri in the round pen with a halter broke 5 year old mare!

We will be heading back up to Fort Vermillion in the future...and everyone in this picture is coming on down on a pack trip this summer.

March, spring is close!

Brenda took in a reining clinic, and learned alot. Everyone is back in training and they are all full of spring sass. The weather is on my side and I am already doing big circle lopes in the feild. Pepper is going really well, and everyone is in the line for a few miles each day. No one is pulling and everyone seems to be enjoying stretching their legs. Everyone new has been round penned, saddled and in the line. I have gotten on a few and I am SO excited about this years string. I am having so much fun, Brenda also is getting all of her horses going. Brenda is in Camrose at the office and I am in Rocky, we head to Fort Vermillion to teach a clinic at the end of this month. Another big adventure up North!

Here is a picture of Tommy, Lillian (our sale manager) horse, at the head of the line, Peso is behind him and so on.

We danced to the Allen Christie band, their was a great silent auction, we ate a great meal and Wild Deuce wins the photo contest!

Wild Sheep Foundation gives at convention

Wild Sheep foundation donates a saddle and winning buckles to high hunts. Neil Thagard was the representive from Colorado at our event. Neil was awesome and Wild Deuce hopes to attend Wild Sheep Foundation Convention down in the US next winter!

We say good bye to Bobbi..

Here is Bobbi Peterson, AOA secretary for the past 16 years. This year she say's good bye. Bobbi is very special to us, as we bought our mountain lease from her and Hank. We have become friends and you can't find a nicer person than the two of them.

Alberta Outfitters Assoc. Convention Pack Competition!

February 10 Terri judges 4-H Public Speaking in Holden and the kids did really great! On the 14 Wild Deuce heads to Rocky Mountain house for the annual Alberta Outfitters Association banquet. We put on the conference this year and had fun doing it. We were voted in as full pledged members and Wild Deuce is now one of the directors for the AOA. We were voted in again for doing the conference again...yes we will be asking you to buy a ticket! lol Chuck and Terri moved to Rocky at the end of the month. Spring is just around the corner...here are some pictures of the conference.

February 6 Puppies arrive!

February brought another batch of puppies from Sue and Rex. Sue had four wonderful gorgeous pups, we currently have one left for sale at this time $500.00 each. Call me if you are interested in this good looking well marked male. 780-678-5400! His parents, our main dogs have worked over 100 000 head, the mom barks and will take down a bull. The dad is a strong eyed dog, doesn't bark, heads and heels. We have kept back alot of pups including 2 from this litter and have seen the results. These are working dogs and raised right. They are born in our house and remain until they are walking. They are well behaved and played with relentlessly by my daughter.

Thank you Dinner January 26-08

Wild Deuce puts on our annual Thank you dinner at the Kingman Hall. It was our turn to thank all of our volunteers and sponsors at our last competition and sale. We cooked up some grub and bought some wine. We had fun decorating the hall and bringing out all the pictures of the the sale. We had over 50 people come out so we could thank them personally. Of course Brenda and I still had our tans and ready to still be girls. We wore dresses and alot of people were in shock to see us in dresses instead of jeans. We were able to give alot of things to our volunteers thanks to Lammles, especially Brian! There were some tears shed when Brenda and myself presented framed pictures to our parents for letting us go after our dream. Cheers to everyone who make our sale happen! Here is a picture of us Thanking the Round Hill Riders 4-Hers for their help. We gave them a free clinic!

January 2008

Happy New Year! January was a great month, Chuck and I re-newed our 10 year vows along with 9 friends in Cancun. We were their for a week and had the best trip ever, our friends suprised us with quite the ceremony. After wiping the tears, we were reminded of the value of good friends, a good husband, and the gorgeous view. We overlooked the ocean and finished off the day with a 3 hour dinner with everyone. We ended up going ziplining threw the jungle, snorkeling, biking (oh and the old saying "its like riding a bike"...yep almost fell off and my sister law had a wipe out.) The guys went fishing and Brenda and I did what we thought anyone on vacation should, eat sushi, drink mexician beer and lay on the beach till you burn! The day of the ceremony Brenda, my other chick friends went to the spa. I have a new attitude towards the whole spa world. It was AWESOME! Brenda's colt she raised got hurt and we called Rick of Stockyards Vet. He is now healed but it took a long time, he cut his forearm, hind leg and inside let.

December 2007

Merry Christmas everyone! Try to enjoy the season without getting overwhelmed with all the pressures. Have some nog and phone a friend! We had a great month, Brenda trained again all month. I enjoyed my family, friends and horses. We had a batch of puppies out of Milly and had a great Christmas. Brenda bought me some shoeing gear and really nice rawhide hobbles. She is a great friend and knows exactly what I don't have! (smile) I bought a buckskin horse for 2008 sale on the 16. I am really excited about him, he has such a kind personality. We named him Peso. Have a great New Year!

November 2007

We're back! We head right from the mountains without unpacking to Edmonton. We meet Brenda to unpack our display. Our display includes our wall tent, after unrolling it and finding spruce nettles, wood ect, we have a laugh. Everyone seems a bit grumpy at tradeshows, we have a blast. We get to dress up like chicks and socialize! We met alot of people, booked alot of folks for 2008 and seen alot of old friends. We ended up winning best booth for the show, and being on Global T.V. the morning show. We had to be up at 4:ooam that morning and I didn't know if my brain would be awake enought to be on T.V! Of course they put us on first and set up the booth. Brenda and I snuck back to the booth while everyone was having coffee and pretended we were T.V. people! (smile) We got caught and everyone had a laugh. We met Lorraine Mansbridge and she is really nice and wide awake that early. Brenda trained horses the rest of the month and I enjoyed my family. posted by Terri

October 2007!

In October, we head back to the mountains to start gathering the cows. In the fall they are all over the place, we ride from dawn till dusk. They usually settle at night once gathered but this fall they were down right rude. With them so unsettled we started to look for predator track. I found alot of wolf track but nothing else. But the cows told us different and we eventually moved them down a valley and they were good. Chuck rode Scout alot and fell in love with him. I rode Pepper, Mooch, Jake, Jessie and lead some new colts. It was a great fall, nice weather, really quite and I had alot of relaxing miles in favorite place "the saddle". Its our time to sit back and enjoy this country on our time. We had our friends/family come out and help push these cows the 20 miles to the corral. Than we did the one week stray round up, we didn't get out before the snow but the roads were not bad getting out. We got out just in time to put our booth in for November's Canadian Finals Rodeo. Its always nice to get to town! written by Terri
