I am home from the elk Hunt...here are some pics!

We headed to Sundre and west to the Panther River. Taking friends on a 10 day elk hunt with GREAT weather to make it a great pack trip!

We passed some Wild Horses on the way to the staging area.
The "mountain cat" is wondering where we are now? But he sure likes riding in the wagon on our bedrolls!!

The wagon is packed and the harness almost on.

Nix my Clayboy colt is ready to go.

Off we head crossing the Panther River.

We find a nice camp just as it gets dark on the 1st night.

2nd day we head back to the staging area to pick up Tom. (here I am fixing the reins that got hung up, when the team was having a drink)

The sun was out in full swing!

Chuck & Tom with Rusty and Mike as the team!

Nice country to ride in & explore
I rode Wrangler most of the time...smile (It was nice to get back on him after his rest)

Did I mention the gorgeous valley...

Night riding...well yeah!!
Chuck & Taylor heading down another valley...

Another day and more sun...ahhh

Taylor's puppy having a look UP at Wrangler.

Chuck and Doug figuring out where to ride.
Chuck took them to the top, dropped them off and headed back to camp.

Chuck heading back down...nice view eh?

Four corners cabin

Heading out and up...

Glassing...

Can you see the bull elk in this picture? Doug did, and was nicknamed "eagle eyes", they seen four 5 point bull elk in one day!

Chuck riding Rusty.

Tom riding "Studly"

Nix packing Tom's gear!
Studly...
I got off my horse and decided this mountain looked easy to climb with Taylor...what am I NEW?
So here is about 20 feet up...I am out of breath at this point, it is straight up and I AM NOT GOING TO THE TOP. Darn kid...."Mom, let's go it's not to bad eh?" I would of answered her but I couldn't breath...
3rd ridge another rest...notice the wagon in the valley?

Okay...now we are getting to the top but now my kid has taken the pack and is an official cheer leader!!! Love her...

Taylor's puppy thought it was easy to climb every time he looked back at me!!! Nice view eh?
WE MADE IT...okay my daughter did run part of it while her mother gasped for air...but WE MADE IT TO THE TOP! For the record, one I realize why I ride and 2 I can still feel my butt muscles from going straight UP!!!!! Oh and when we got down to the bottom, do you think I could get on Wrangler bareback? Nope my muscles were just not working BECAUSE THEY WERE SHAKING & asking me what the _&*_(*&_(*& was that??? smile
I enjoyed this chair after the hike & enjoyed the running creek with no ice!
Another night ride...found another trail had to see where it went?
Found some neat trails and a nice summer hot tub!
Heading up river with the string with more feed...we planned this so I would get the miles on my ponies....

Nix my clayboy colt...packed again!

View from the ranger cabin!

Doug riding Scout.

Chuck heading out on Mike.

Taylor riding Studly

Bush cat warming up...no mice in our camps now!

ahhh...the glow of a warm tent!!

Taylor riding studly on a good ride towards ice lake.

The day we rip camp their was ice on the creek behind the kitchen tent...time to go!
Packing up..

Taylor riding Studly back home...

Almost to the big hill...and the wreck that was on the way.

The horses slipped, lost their grip going up this steep hill fully loaded and back down the wagon went until it hit a tree that stopped it. Everything was okay...
Another view

We unloaded the wagon and my string took everything to the top.

With the help of Wrangler...I helped pull the wagon up and off we were again. But the ice was thicker, Wrangler did so good breaking trail!
Back at the trailer...oats are in order!!!!!!
GREAT trip, great people and had a lot of fun riding with Taylor on new trails along with working with each horse I brought!! Oh did I mention the weather spoiled me...the guys kept saying "this weather is not normal Terri". I am now home for the Canadian Finals Rodeo and I am looking forward to seeing friends and going shopping along with the HOT shower!!!!!!!!!!
