Good bye January 2009, I welcome February...closer to spring!

Sweet dreams.....pictures of the dream catcher at the cabin. Sleep tight...have a great weekend. It is currently snowing & blowing here at the cabin.

The February Contest...no one ENTERED?!?!?!

I am in shock....not one entry with an orginal W2. What I was looking for is who ever had bought a touque, vest or hoodie to put it in a neat picture. I know their have been alot of folks out there to buy some gear.....smile. In 10 mintues the competition is over. How ever I will tell you about February's contest...

I showed two examples of what I was looking for, one is me at the Grand Canyon with my vest and two is wrangler scott with his oilskin W2 vest at the NFR during the trade show! One more post than off to bed....

Puppies eyes opened today!

No they can't focus yet but they did open their eyes today....in a few days they will see us! Darn cute. Taylor took this pic...

Where is Wrangler Scott NOW?????

He has the sunset for last night and he is bringing home Coffee for Cowboy Chuck for this coming Monday....if it get's here in time. We hope Scott is on his way up here in the next few days to go riding! Guess where his foot and sunset are?

Only -2 at 8:30pm...loving it!

Lots of riding today! Even got to work with Dallas the guy I bought before we headed south. Sure doesn't take much riding in this deep snow to get them sweating. When the sun went down, I took Taylor on a night ride! Now I have a big bowl of popcorn and a date with a 8 year old! Have a great night...

W2 Wednesday Wine Tasting...

This week's wine is from Australia again. It is Angoves Bin 336 a 2006 Cabernet Shiraz. The winery won Winery of the Year 2008. It was $10.00 and very fruity to smell. Quite a nice wine, get's smoother the more sips. smile. The first flavor you taste is the oak... While you sip this wine you are also help save the Koala bears, as each bottle bought part proceeds go to conserving the Koala's. So get out and save the bears people, every bottle will help. smile!

Chef Rachel having fun!

As you can see all of our folks at Wild Deuce like adventure....here is Rachel whitewater rafting in Jasper! She just sent me a recipe for pancakes. Here it is....
I hope that everyone enjoyed my chili tips. It is now well afternoon and time to head out for more ingredients. You will also need to stop by the local establishment of "fine mind fuddling, attitude adjusting beverages". Of course they will have no tequila left so you will have to buy for my next recipe!
PERFECT PANCAKES! I suggest beer of any kind, lots of it and don't be a wuss and buy light! IT'S ALL IN THE MIX: be it your own or store bought. Open two cans of beer, have the rest on hand, not to far away as you are going to need to test them. Than combine the dry ingredients thoroughly. Break up any lumps by either sifting them or whisking them out, this is back breaking work so DO NOT become dehydrated, refresh with beer. Next combine all the wet ingredients in a seperate bowl. Don't skip this step! Yeah I know it makes more dishes but it's worth it. Use beer instead of milk or water. This will foam up like Mt. St Helens, so I suggest you whisk quick. DO NOT be tempted to suck off the suds, taste awful. Never tried it but have been told!
HOW TO COOK THE PANCAKE! Pre-heat your griddle, heavy bottomed (no not me ya idiot..)
not stick pan or very seasoned cast iron skillet to 375 degree's or 185 C. Or until a drop of water skitters across the pan (thats for all of you that cook over the fire...smile). And because you have just slaved away at cutting, stacking and making the fire another wee tip...use Diesal. Terri is not allowed to use it anymore. another story. You must be very thirsty by now, so go ahead chug another beer. Lightly coat the pan with vegetable oil, spray or butter (but butter will burn quicker.) Do a test with sacrificial pancake and adjust the temp up or down. If your pancake is scorched on the outside and raw in the middle, turn down the heat. smile. NOTE: as the head chef you might have to eat the test subject. Or not, I suggest opening another beer and than finding someone else to try it or a border collie, but don't get caught throwing it out to the dogs.
DON'T PRESS YOUR PANCAKES! While your waiting impatiently for the 2nd one to cook , resist the impulse to grab yer spatula and press it. Take a break, refresh your self, you should have plenty of beer around. Pressing will un-do all the efforts you have made to make light fluffy pancakes. SO DON'T!
FUN WITH PANCAKES! To add a bit of whimsy to the breaksfast table, use a turkey baster to squeeze designs, intials or other fun shapes. Ah and you thought I was going to talk about sex again..tut tut! Butter and syrup are the classic toppings but you could set up a condiment buffet of fruits and cream or jam. And let everyone play with their own pancake....don't let you mind off course here. Try one of my personal toppings, hard sauce (1/2 lb of real butter, 4 tbsp of brown sugar whip until fluffy, keep beating and add 1/2 cup of whiskey (drink the other half) chill and serve. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmm!

A great Tuesday!

After feeding, working with some horses and cooking lots of chili (anyone wanting to stop by, I have lots of chili to sample right at the moment!) I headed to town for the squat bootcamp...smile! It was way better today as barely any squats, lots of arm work. My only question is, why is everyone so quiet. Even the coach, at the end no yee haw's or well done. Just see you on Thursday. Either I am loud or I should so start a exercise program! Wild Deuce host's their first excersise program, first we will have you round pen a horse, run around the pen...than we will move to packing. Lifting boxes onto the 10 pack horses standing here...hee hee! Okay I might through in a squat just so its official! Okay, I will stick to outfitting. Our new adventure is going to be cross country skiing! Why stop at a sore body from squats? I took some pics of the gorgeous sunset on my way to town tonight. Night all! Grab your wine glass's for tommorow and I am going to remind you of Valentines again tommorow! We REALLY want you to join us!

Terri makes chili after Chef Rachel's blog...

After Rachel's blog I decided it was my turn to try chili, I made four batches. Using different ingredients in each, I have only tried one so far and Taylor gave it two thumbs up and it was all gone when she brought her plate. The only problem with chili is, how do you re-create it twice as a dash of this, bit of this....never used any tequila Rachel, didn't have any. But in one of them I added some of Wednesday wine, opps. Yep tried it before tommorow, hey when your cooking and you need some wine. Ya Ya! It is good, but you will have to wait till tommorow!

Is it Spring....

The weather is back on our side! What an awesome day and gorgeous sunset. I always buy flowers because I figure flowers make me happy and you can buy them cheap so why not have fresh flowers around you all the time! I buy candles and light them almost everynight. Hey...I do have a chick side especially in the winter! I did make this picture up but with temperatures above zero, reminds us spring is on its way. February is almost here! And with spring comes, shedding but after shedding is the MOUNTAINS! Oh wait, after shedding is spring clinics at the farm in Kingman....than the mountains.

The new puppies in a photo shoot by Taylor!

It was a busy busy day, as its Monday! The cattle call weekend is now sold out and the saddle sore is booking up. Hope you all enjoyed the day! My kickbox is tommorow....yee haw! Hope their are no darn squats this week. Like throwing pack boxes or shoeing is better than squats...smile. Update on Brenda, she just finished another weekend at the clinic she is taking. She is taking class's from our horse chiropracter W4 Health. She is learing a ton of stuff about horse health, muscles, skeletor ect. Coles Western Wear confirmed he was sponsoring 1st again for next year, $1000.00 up for grabs just for consigned horses. Lammles confirmed 2nd value $750.00 and Slide Stop confirmed at 3rd and its only January....smile. Talk to you tommorow...

Cowboy Chucks Coffee Cup!

Afternoon, Chuck just called with the coffee he just had. He stopped in Rocky Mountain House at Novel Ideas coffee shop. He ordered an Americano with whipping cream. His commented was "it is not for the faint of heart, as it feels like booster cables were just hooked on to me!" He has so much energy he is coming home to cut and stack wood. I might feed him that coffee all the time. I am afraid the Americano is too much for myself even with cream....guess that is why I am on the wine! smile

Sunday...late, very cold...brrr

Okay...I just woke up because I am frozen. Yeah I am sooo cool going on the blog this late, never mind. Rode most of the day and it seemed to just get colder. Worked 5 head today and man is the snow deep out the fields. I did get chilled to the bone, guess I better have a hot shower so I can get back to bed, as tommorow is Monday! Just started the fire again with a heater log....ahhh I am sitting so close I could cook, feels good! Taylor was busy with Brian working on her elk horns today, she stained them & they are almost ready to mount. Chat to you tommorow, hope your all sleeping....brrrr -24!

Meet Chef Rachel... she has Chili cooking tips!

Our chef Rachel is one amazing women! We are lucky to have her as a friend... She is a real live chef who has worked on millionaires yachts, travelled the world and is from New Zealand!
Rachel like Scott are people I want you all to meet. Rachel will have some tips on life, food, liquor and more!
Today she has the "10 Top Cooking Tips for the Best Pot of Chili (Hhic) In this recipe you will notice her favorite drink! smile
Most Chili's are highly personalized creations. People work very hard for many years to perfect their chili recipes. Whether your a beginner or just looking to tweak a favorite recipe. These tips can help you create your best pot of chili ever and if ever in doubt add tequila...
1)If you chili is to thick, use broth to dilute, although I use tequila. A nice Agave.
2)If you chili is to thin, try adding tomato paste to thicken it. Do not use corn starch, don't add tequila at this time. Drink it instead, calm down all is not lost...
3)Use a combination of chili's to bring out the flavor chili. This one will take some work, and you can't always find them here in Alberta so drink some more tequila and try it anyway.
4)Cook meats first. Brown ground meats or chunks of beef, before adding any liquids like Tequila. Try adding BBQ meats.
5)Use quality meats. Chili was orginally created to diquise cheaper cuts of meat and tenderize really tough meats. I found that dog and rodent are particularly tough (smile), but road kill is excellent as its already tenderized!
6)Use fresh vegetables. Don't use vegetables that have been in your fridge for years, or canned. Use fresh you will taste the difference, if you can't have some more tequila.
7)Cook the chili the day before you plan to eat it, its better and that give you time to sample all the tequila's you bought while you were suppose to be grocery shopping.
8)Use your own mix of spices, herbs and chili's rather than pre-packaged. Marijuana is a herb in case you didn't know, use it with tequila and lime. smile
9)Don't use old spices, yeah I know you all have them & they have been on your shelf for years. But they lose their flavor and taste. Not like tequla which nevers loses its flavor...yee haw!
10)Experiment cooking and have fun! Cooking...not sex. Hey why not invite some friends over to share your chili creation with, no not the sex. Better yet, have them make some and bring it over to you...smile. If you still looking for more creative ideas ask your friends while they are their. Nah...they might have had too much tequila like myself. See you next time...
Chef Rachel...Prost!

Wrangler Scott....what is he doing?

Looks like he is having fun doesn't it? Well, that is wrangler Scott, life is a party and he is invited. He fits right in, next I am going to introduce to Chef Rachel...we have quite the family for you to meet next summer!

Meet Benny...working or family pet!

Benny wouldn't stand still for the camera, so the pics are fuzzy. Smile, Benny is at the bottom of the pecking order, he is shy and very lovable. He will make an excellent pet and will be extremely loyal. The shy ones, are always so loyal. He has great markings and a very good looking pup. He is also 11 weeks old with 1st shots & worming. We have priced Benny at $250.00, only because he is shy and is best suited in a family setting. Not to say he wouldn't work as all these pups will. But he won't be as bold as Jake.

Meet Jake...working dog prospect!

Jake is 11 weeks old, with his 1st shots and worming. He is a very good looking pup and I liked him as soon as I seen him. I have taken him under my wing. He is very respectful and shy of new things but quickly gets over that. He will make a working dog! He is currently priced at $500.00. If your interested email cttm@telus.net Will be hard to see him go...

Cold Saturday...

Yesterday I rode Jessie and ponied some horses. Little cold on the cheeks, one thumb and a toe....smile! Heading out riding, the fire last night felt really nice as I was chilled to the bone. Another great sunset last night!

Hope you had yer hat on tight today!

Well folks, today you needed your strings on your hat to keep it on. In Rocky their was wind and cold, brought the dogs in tonight. Blankets on the ponies...hey how come I have not one entry for the contest this month???? Will bug you later!
So my adventure today was, going to a bootcamp kickboxing class! I currently will sleep in this chair tonight with my head resting nicely on the laptop. As it seems my body hates me now and doesn't want to move! One hour, which seemed like a full day of squats....getting in the truck hurt when I left. YEE HAW!!!! Oh....and apparently I am loud or the class is very quiet. For anyone who has rode with Bren and I we like to.....make a noise I am not sure how to spell it. Anyways its loud and when everyone is quiet we yell it. Yep did it a few times, few wierd looks, but really yelled when I was in pain after the 100th squat of boot camp..... Go out and do something new, who knows you might be in as much pain as me right now! Going to watch Seabiscuit and going to bed! Oh....and what are you doing for Valentines? I have a date for you dinner & dance at the Outfitters Annual Banquet & Dance 77 years to be exact....I have a few folks who already confirmed! Tell you tommorow, oh know now I have to move, stupid boot camp (oh was the outloud) night all...

W2 Wednesday Wine Tasting...

Today I sipped a wine that I picked ONLY because of the label! It can be a hit or miss, but it was a HIT. Mangrove Jack was an excellent white wine. From the smell to the first taste....this was a great wine full of flavor and very smooth. Next time your in the liquor store, pick this dandy up, throw it on ice and enjoy sipping it! Would go with any type of food and I bought it, as a gamble from Super Store for under $10.00! Please let me know your thoughts if you drink any W2 tasting wines, oh...take a pic! On our wine tasting women't retreats....we will enjoy the top 5 wines from W2 Wednesday Wine Tasting nights. Talk to you tommorow...

Howdy everyone!

I took a couple of snow days....oh wait there was no snow! With all this nice weather I spent every moment with the horses and no time in the office. I hope everyone is looking up these days to the sky, man is it nice. From the sunrises to the sunsets and everything in between like T-shirt weather! In the pics I have Jessie my Clayboy mare who is my main mare these days. Next is Taylor's new toy we pull behind the horse to go do chores. And last is the sky....Montana does not own the "Big Sky Country"....Alberta has it too!
