Elvis goes to a great new home!

Elvis was Wrangler Susan's horse this past summer. He has just gone to a great home in Blairmore with new owner Lana. She came after Elvis for her husband. His size and experience was exactly what they needed! They live right in the mountains. Besides just riding, Elvis will be hubby's hunting partner.
Problem is....Lana is really enjoying Elvis!

Lana.....you have to share....!!!!

AND....great news....! Out of the deal I got Magik.
She a wonderfu,l 11 year old mare. Magik is a been-there- done-that kind of horse. Here's a picture from Lana. They used Magik for riders or beginners. Only problem was that hubby doesn't like mares. Elvis was more to his liking. It was a good deal for both of us!

Here's Slim and Carlos checking out the new horse. Magik fit in with the group really easily. I'm excited to have Magik join the team! Stay posted over the winter and upcoming summer to see all of Magik's adventures.

p.s. Hi Blaine! :)

Speaking of the Blackfoot...my ride with friends after the sale!

After the sale and all the clean up (AL where were you...you were missed???) Roger and Ken called us up to go for a ride in all this nice weather. Scott was still here so we all hoped in the trailer and headed out for a much needed riding outing....here is a pic of Chuck on Bonnie!
Ken on Echo...neat story! Echo was our horse a few years ago and sold through our sale. She was one of the horses I always thought about and regretted selling because she loved our life but we sold her when we use to sell every horse we bought. Any who she sold one year to an owner that didn't get along with her so we gladly took her back for the next summer, to sell for that owner in the next sale. Well she sold as our top selling horse that year and was amazing...was even harder to sell her twice..ack! Long story later of being sold and re-bought she found her way to our good friends Ken and Louis. She is Louis's horse and is giving her confidence....its nice to see her land in such a great home and now I know where she is!

The crew in the gorgeous fall colors...oh wait Roger is in front trying to get into position...ROGER??? lol
Chuck and I...this was my first ride on my new horse!
The trails are so nice and half way there is a nice cabin and outhouse...TREAT!
Roger and Scott relaxing...
Bonnie is all about safety!
I love fall....
Taylor stunting on Bonnie...not sure where she gets that. Must be Bren!

Coming home in the dark...hmmm not like us at all! Chuck on Bonnie and Ken on Echo!
On our way home we came up with a new task to get through the gate by going backwards....hmmm new obstacle for 2011 sale???? hmmm
Again...where does she learn to try to get her horse in the outhouse...BRENDA???
It was great ride and much needed time with friends...thanks guys!

Trace enjoying his new home with Stacey!

Stacey sent me these pics of her puppy she bought from us Trace! She enjoyed a ride with him and her horse at blackfoot in all this nice fall weather! Thanks for the update Stacey!

Made it back from Bassano!

Well...made it back from Bassano. I swear it is like it's own little Twilight Zone there! The countryside is so different from the foothills, it's something you'all have to experience. From jumping cactus, to the people, to land that goes on forever....

Where prairie meets the sky!

The land the cattle is on includes a great river valley, which makes for spectacular scenery! Here is the cattle coming out of the valley. Neat, eh?

Some of the crew. The neighbours were gathering the same day and came to help us as well. AND that's right....you did see a plane in the picture!
Grant uses a plane to check his cattle. Here he is flying over ours while we gather.

There is a joke that this is the only tree for miles and everyone laughs. But it's true!
A sincere thank you to all the locals at Bassano for making our stay fabulous! From the great old fashioned bathtub in our hotel room... to the waitress at Rosie's where we had breakfast every morning...to the friends that made us laugh until our guts hurt. I haven't had such a great time gathering cattle in years!

Mountain Cattle Chase 2010!!!!!!!

The cow chasing crew for 2010 were from left to right... Ken, Dave, Scott, Blaine, Me, Chuck, Susan, Earl and Brandt. Randal is taking the picture and Brenda joined us later for the potluck and fun!!!
Cattle Chase began a day earlier then expected this year because we couldn't get trucks...but lucky our friends could come in! Here we are driving the cows right through our camp and Nix my younger stud is watching on!

Here is Blaine who was in my group watching the cows go by... my group went behind to gather any strays. Also note the three day old calf in the back ground behind Blaine. He has a few exciting days over this round up...

I was impressed how well they went by everything and didn't knock anything down!!!

So here is our 3 day old calf YA YA Susan nicknamed Veal...hitching a ride with Ken on his paint mare Lena. Mom had left Veal also named Norm by Randel!

Ken helping him across the river...

Here is my training horse becoming one with a tarp...random pic!
